Before you buy — what saidit cannot do

• —It types into saidit's own pad, not into your other apps. A web page cannot send keystrokes to Slack, Mail or your editor, so the finished text goes to the pad, your clipboard, a file or the share sheet, and you paste it the last inch yourself.
• —The push-to-talk key only works while the saidit tab is in front. There is no system-wide hotkey in a browser, and nothing can listen while you are in another window.
• —English only. The model it ships is an English one, and we would rather say so than claim nine languages badly.
• —The model is about 67 MB and downloads once, from the app's own site. Until it is on your device dictation needs a connection; afterwards the whole app runs with the network off.
• —Working out what you said happens on your device, so the tab goes still for a few seconds while it runs — longer on a phone or an old laptop, and longer for a long dictation.
• —Recording stops on its own at two minutes. Anything already recorded is still transcribed; nothing gets thrown away.
• —Dictations, dictionary and modes are saved in one browser on one device, and there is no sync — so clearing that browser's data clears them, and a second computer starts empty.
• —It needs a microphone and a browser with WebAssembly. Where either is missing the app says so, and the typed lane still runs every rule.
